Impact of Second Phase Content on Rock Salt Rheological Behavior Under Cyclic Mechanical Conditions

چکیده

Abstract Safe Underground Gas Storage (UGS) can be achieved in artificial, salt caverns to meet fluctuations energy demand by providing adequate knowledge on rock when subjected similar cyclic conditions. In this study, we performed mechanical tests five samples with different types and amounts of second-phase mineral content. A confining pressure 25 MPa was applied, whilst the axial stress cycled between 4.5 7.5 MPa, at 0.5 kN/s loading rate, during 48 h (7200 cycles). The results demonstrate that high content such as anhydrite layering operates a strength weakening agent accommodating larger brittle deformation comparison lower secondary minerals. This rheological behavior is further exacerbated cycling conditions recorded marked step Young’s modulus Poisson’s ratio value evolution. microstructure analysis reveals how halite grains accommodate most induced through microfracturing network development. Other structures from mechanisms are also discussed. Two new porosity observed: (i) pores around isolated crystals minerals result grain rotation under deformation, (ii) microcracks areas concentration (such anhydrite, polyhalite, carnallite, or kieserite). change has strong implications for both material its potential permeability.

On the effect of grain size on rock behavior under cyclic loading by distinct element method

It is well-known that the mechanical behavior of rocks under cyclic loading is much different from static loading conditions. In most constructions, the load applied to structures is within dynamic ranges. That’s why a great deal of attention has been paid towards this field in order to identify the dynamic behavior of rocks in more details. Nevertheless, the nature of dynamic failure in rocks ...

the impact of training on second language writing assessment: a case of raters’ biasedness

Emotions' Impact on Viewing Behavior under Natural Conditions

Human overt attention under natural conditions is guided by stimulus features as well as by higher cognitive components, such as task and emotional context. In contrast to the considerable progress regarding the former, insight into the interaction of emotions and attention is limited. Here we investigate the influence of the current emotional context on viewing behavior under natural condition...

The Effects of Inhomogeneous Mechanical Properties of the Ferrite Phase on Dual Phase Steel’s Behavior

The microstructure of dual phase steels can be considered as a matrix of ferrite phase reinforced by martensite particles. Recent measurements show that the mechanical properties of the ferrite phase are changed with the distance from the martensite grains. In this paper, a new method has been proposed to consider this phenomenon in finite element modeling of dual phase steels microstructure. I...
